INDIMEDIATICOS DEL MUNDO

Les escribimos desde Uruguay, un pequeño país de la costa atlántica de sudamérica, ubicado entre los
gigantes Brasil y Argentina (busquen en el mapa y lo hallarán... es verdad). Lo hacemos con el fin
de que sepan que aquí se ha formado un IMC, aunque no aparezca en ninguna lista de IMCs en ninguna
web de Indymedia. La razón de nuestra ausencia es que aun no hemos recibido la aprobación para
nuestra integración a la red, aunque falta poco tiempo.

Nuestro colectivo surgió más de dos meses atrás, fruto de contactos con activistas de diversos IMCs
de EEUU, Canadá, Alemania y Argentina. Muchos de quienes nos integramos ni nos conocíamos antes de
comenzar con las reuniones. Y si bien carecemos de muchos recursos, desde el comienzo logramos
reunir el respaldo de una pluralidad de grupos. Tenemos marxistas, anarquistas y grupos que no
quedan bajo ningún "ista". Los activistas pertenecen a grupos políticos, radios comunitarias, radios
libres, periódicos alternativos, colectivos de afinidad y otros no pertenecen a nada.

En el proceso hemos conseguido un centro comunitario para funcionar, en el cual se han venido
desarrollando nuestras reuniones, y hemos aprobado nuestra declaración de objetivos y nuestra
política editorial, las cuales pueden hallar en:

Hemos formado grupos de trabajo editoriales en las siguientes áreas:

    Sindical (trabajadores ocupados y desocupados)
    Estudiantil (enseñanza secundaria, técnica, docente y universitaria)
    Derechos Humanos (desaparecidos, impunidad, verdad y justicia)
    Represión Policial y Situación Carcelaria (violaciones actuales a los derechos humanos),
    Medio Ambiente (contaminación, transgénicos, ecología)
    Marginalidad y Vivienda (pobreza extrema y derechos humanos)
    Cultura (crítica cultural y cultura alternativa)
    Politica Nacional (instituciones, gobierno y partidos)
    Asuntos Internacionales (América Latina y Movimiento Anticapitalista)

Y también los siguientes grupos de trabajo:
Técnica, Fotografía, Audiovisuales y Administración.

Esperamos con ansiedad la aprobación de nuestro IMC. Y para no perder el tiempo, nos propusimos
escribirle a todos los IMCs del mundo, para que supieran que estábamos aquí y poder así intercambiar
opiniones y experiencias.

Nos gustaría saber como fue vuestro surgimiento. Si vuestros colectivos se parecen al nuestro. Y si
funcionan de manera similar o no.

INDYMEDIATICS OF THE WORLD

We write from Uruguay, a small country of the Atlantic coast of South América, located between the
giants Brazil and Argentina (look for in a map and you'll find it... it's true). We do it with the
purpose of  you to know that an IMC exists here, although it doesn't appear in any list of IMCs in
any website of Indymedia. The reason of our absence is that we
haven´t received the approval for our integration to the Indymedia global network yet, although it´s
going to be soon.

Our collective arose more than two months ago, due to contacts with activists of diverse IMCs, of
United States, Canada, Germany and Argentina. Many of those who joined our IMC didn´t knew each
other before the beginning of the meetings. And although the lack of many resources, from the
beginning we were able to reunite the support of diverse groups. We have marxists, anarchists and
groups that cannot be put under any "ist". The activists belong to political groups, community
radios, free radios, alternative newspapers, afinity collectives and others don't belong to
anything.

In the process we have achieved a community center to work, in which our meetings have been
developed, and we have approved our Mission Statement and our Editorial Politics, which you can find

We've created editorial work groups in the following areas:

    Unions (employed and unemployed workers)
    Students (secondary and technical education, as well as universitary and teaching education)
    Human Rights (missing, impunity, truth and justice)
    Police Repression and Prisons Situation (current violations to human rights),
    Environment (pollution, transgenics, ecology)
    Marginality and Housing (extreme poverty)
    Culture (cultural critic and alternative culture)
    National Politics (institutions, government and parties)
    International Matters (Latin America and Anticapitalist Movement)

And also the following work groups:
Tech, Photography, Audiovisual and Management.

We are looking forward the approval of our IMC. And in order to don´t waste the time, we proposed
ourselves to write to all the IMCs of the world, so you knew that we were here and to we would be
able to exchange opinions and
experiences.

We would like to know, how was your arising. If your collectives are like ours. And if you work in a
