The IMC-Summaries Mailinglist
This is a low traffic non-discussion list for distribution
of brief summaries of the activity of indymedia mailinglists
and working groups. Subscribers from several of the global
indymedia lists have automatically been subscribed to this
list.
Upgrading to active 1.7.1
The webocoder gnomes have been hard at work. There's a new
update to active again.

July 3rd IMC-Tech Meeting
There was a lightly attended 'pacific-rim' imc-tech meeting held
july 3rd. Maffew provided a few good suggestions at improving
upload reliability.

August Euro-IMC-Geekfests
This august there are a couple techie gatherings of indymedia
and related radical techies in europe before and after the
grand hacker fest, HAL 2001 in Holland. This includes the
imc-europa-tech before HAL and tech_2 in bristol afterwards.
Hopefully we'll get a lot of shit down and get to do dry runs
of various workshops leading up to the ruckus camp in
the US in Octoboer.

Maffew Retires
Mathew Arnison is going to be retiring from imc-tech and cat
work for the next 9 months to focus on finishing his PhD
in Physics. Maffew has been a major force behind indymedia
since before the beginning. Maybe with him focusing on his
fancy microscopes we'll be able to get rid of php. ;)

Active Rewrite Rumblings
Idan's Sandstorm and active-xmlrpc code has inspired more
discussion on a rewrite of active. This includes rethinking
the database schema, xml, and adding categorization.
Most of the discussion can be found at the webcoders archive:

The Finnish techies also have a proposal for improving the
organization of the sites.

collaborate with imc-tech and other radical techies.
