Thanks /m for that.

I will only add one thought: we did have the address, 
imc-uk at indymedia.org (or something of the like). The problem was, there 
was so much spam and so many emails to re-direct by hand, so much work 
for just one person, we got rid of that and advertised the list 
address/es instead (imc-uk at lists.indymedia.org, or 
imc-uk-contact at lists.indymedia.org).

So in practice would be good to have 2 or more emails to which emails to 
an alias can be redirected to.
