It is so that people can post to the site without anyone
knowing what they are doing, for example some workplaces
log web usage, when a encrypted connecting is established
all the workplace sys admin will be able to log is the IP
address of the publishing server since everything else

Yeah... one thing the meeting today decided was that we
should get a cert from http://cacart.org/ -- this will
reduce the number of warnings somewhat, and get rid of
them altogether if people install the cacert root
certificate:
