Somos un grupo de personas comprometidas con Guatemala, para facilitar informar y ser informados a través de un medio de comunicación independiente y de fácil acceso.
En vista de que en Guatemala los medios de comunicación corporativos están limitados a un grupo de personas que filtran la información de acuerdo a criterios particulares con intereses económicos, políticos y otros, y de los intentos repetidos de impedir la libre expresón en general; y de la situación histórica y política que ha acompañado al país, en donde los abusos de poder y las violaciones a los derechos humanos han sido los elementos principales, creemos en la urgente necesidad de establecer Indymedia Guatemala para fomentar la participación de todos los sectores de país en un proceso democrático de información para todos y abierto a todos.
Por lo anterior solicitamos el apoyo de la Red Internacional Indymedia, para hacer esto una realidad.

We are a group of people committed to helping others inform and be informed through an independent, accessible media in Guatemala.
Considering that the Guatemalan corporate media are controlled by a small group of people who filter the information according to their own economic, political and other interests; and that there are repeated attempts to limit free expression; and that abuses of power and human rights violations have been powerful elements in the contry\'s history an politics, we believe that the participation of all sectors in a democratic process of open and accesible publishing through the creation of Indymedia Guatemala is urgently needed.
