Thanks Bart, I'm new in these waters (process etc...) and did not feel good being the first to go where you go, not knowing about the history and this prior topical imc issue.
I am of Seattle IMC where over a year ago we wanted to do a series of inside pages and have them about different "beats" like the ;ocal labor and waterfront issues, the envoronment, First Peoples issues-recognition,land soverignty), the State legislator and a large criminal justice reform movement, etcetcetc. Well, tech shortages and a million pulls and constraints later. We never got there.
So I am euphoric to see this sort of vision coming to be again, no ,
matter where or in what specific form.
I also feel that a separate "site" is an unnecessary complication. And I expect that other issues would soon claim the same right. I will not oppose that right, but only ask that meet it in the best way. And that we integrate into where the network will be going.
That is- we have on hand (if I am correct) some possible tools for creating topic searches, so that such contents could be segregated for a reader. This could be by each reader, or a small group could do it for all, and allow access to a single topic page, an inside page like the open wire has taken residence in. This will relieve the servers of everyone doing the same search when they come to see about an issue. By not replicating an entire website, we will preserve our server space. Correct me if this is really not a consideration.
Something that I do not see any wide discussion of (probably because i've not been on the right lists?) is hardening the network, distributing archives so that they can not be errased from the internet. I would hope that moving in this direction would also relieve server overfill. Maybe I've been smoking too much.
So I would love to have a waterworld imc discussion as long as its in a context of wheredowegofromhere.
