dear friends
since a few monthes some organizations, groups, collectives, individuals fr=
om ecuador began to realize meetings in order to conform an
indymedia ecuador.
at the moment there are particpiating in the meetings persons from indigenu=
os and campesino movements like
CONAIE, ECUARUNARI,  CONFEUNASSC, alternative media and some more.

we have red the criteria of afiliation and we are conform with them.

at the moment there are 3 persons, that will be responsible of the tecnical=
 aspects,
i tell you this, because one of the objectives is to make workshops with or=
ganozations and individuals, organozations etc. to capacitate them
how to use indymedia.

we are having meetings every wednesday at 4 p.m. and the invitation is open=
 to organzations and individuals.
the invitation is send by the indymedia ecuador list and by other lists, fo=
r example the list of the CONFEUNASSC and the international camp

we also realized a campagne to inform the organizations about the project o=
f indymedia ecuador and we will continue in this process.
we dicedes, that the place of meeting should rotate, because liek this, no =
organzation will be able to apropiate the indymedia process to its
organization.
this will work like this, until we will have an own indymedia office

we are working on the design of the indymedia ecuador page, and there are t=
o persons responsible of the internation indymedia contact

the ponit of membership in an political party still has to be discussed a l=
ittle more benause in ecuador there are many political  movements , who
represent the ecuadorian organizations and social movements.

but for the moment we got to the consensus, that no politicla party will fo=
rm part of the indymedia center

Principles of unity

(Punto 1) in the prozess of resistance in our country are participating div=
erse organizations, movements, networks, collectives, individuals that
are working together with the principles of equaty, decentralizatioln, loca=
l autonomy and solidarity.
because of this the indymedia center ecuador should (and will) reflect the =
same diversity of movements and the solidarity
of our prozess of political construction.
we would propose to include the principle  of solidairity in the principles=
 of indymedia. our indigenous nationalities have mantained their conecpt
of brother/sisterhood between societies.

(Punto 4) we are conform with the priciple of open posting, every person ca=
n post articles, but we will try to eliminate articles, that contain
contents that are against the objectves and principles of indymedia and our=
 collective of indymedia ecuador

(Punto 6) to avoid hierarchies and an autoritarian way of coordination we w=
ill work permamently to have an open prozess wich will facilitate
capacitation to each meber of the indymedia ecuador collective  (and other =
interested people) in use of indymedia and to have transparent ways
of desicion making.

the CMI Ecuador will work on an editorial policy,in a participative collect=
ive way , this is the only way to go ahead with the indymedia ecuador
and with every polictical and orgnaizative initiative.

we are totally conform.

because of the urgency to inform and communicate with other people of this =
world, we will relie on the experience of other spaces of alternative
comunication, wich are using technology to express and this way convert thi=
ngs that happen in real history.
we believe, that
INDYMEDIA is the space of communication wich will help us to inform lots of=
 people about our feelings, thoughts, proposals, actions and
mobilizations like indigenous, campesinos, urban popular and other social m=
ovements of ecuador.
we will get back the space of communication, that the conventional mass med=
ia have monopolized , not expressing the reality of people and

from our political and organizative spaces we are working to construct
live and souveranity for our people. this should be emitted to exchange wit=
h other people of this world,  to
contribute to the construction of a better and just societity

WHY INDYMEDIA ECUADOR
In our country the mass media are private monopolized corporations, as a  l=
ogical consecuence they only inform about notices of ther interest,
not informing about actions of the mayority of ecuadorians.
this days, knowing objetives/aims of INDYMEDIA, and after havind some meeti=
ngs of analisis with responsible persons of alternative
communication, we found it necessary for ecuador to join power to create an=
 indymedia ecuador, to inform the world about our struggles,
proceses, activities, proposals and thoughts.

OBJETIVES/AIMS:
a)=09empowerment of our struggles, joining and creating links of brother/si=
sterhood with other peopleof this world.
b)=09to offer  a space to inform, to be informed about the regional and loc=
al struggels of other places. the ind=EDgenous, campesinos, urban
and  popular sectors and other social movements will be able to be construc=
tors of our own own way of life, a new society con our own
principles.
c)=09Descentralization and democtratization of communication, promotingand =
strengthening spaces of alternative media

PRINCIPLES OF COMMUNICATION.

PROJECTS
one reason for the urgency of having an indymedia ecuador is the multitude =
of things that happen in teh context of Plan
Cololmbia and the free trade agreement of the americas FTAA (ALCA in spanis=
h), wich affects the andenean region and Ecuador as part of it.
ecuador is living the prozecc of movilization for the gathering of minister=
s of FTAA, wich will take part the first days of noviembre in quito,
ecuador, (the social continental forum
is mobilizing for this event).
in this prozess of movilization at a regional level an indymedia ecuador, w=
ill play an important role and help to cover the actions, that wont be
covered by the mass media.
