Hi Dana,
Jay from the PhillyIMC here, as well as the new-imc working group. Sorry
for such a long lag time on communication. It's difficult to keep up
sometimes, as you can imagine.
I'm usually on top of a lot of the new-imc applications, especially from
the U.S., but some have been confusing. I know Cleveland was "official,"
then took a break, then is back again. There has been some communication
with the new-imc working group over the last couple months. Were you also
communicating with other imcs in the midwest? Perhaps you've been in touch
with Sascha (meinrath at indymedia.org) from the Urbana-Champagin IMC and/or
Christopher (chrismi at frontiernet.net) from the Twin Cities IMC?
The reason that there is confusion around the Cleveland IMC is that we
don't really have a standard policy for IMCs that are revitalizing, at
least not as solid as the one for IMCs that are just starting. I assume
you've already been directed to fill out the documents at
"newimc.indymedia.org"? You may have already sent them along. If you
have, great, let me know and I'll dig them up. If not, I'm sure since
you're up and running you should be able to fill out the membership
criteria document really easily, and send along a brief introduction, if
you haven't already. When that happens . . . well, all the details are at
newimc.indymedia.org, so check out the step-by-step information there.
Sorry again for the confusion. Cleveland falls into that middle ground
between "new-imc" and "old IMCs that are reviving." So, we're not too good
yet at figuring out what to do in each case.
Please be in touch with me and/or the new-imc list to send us the
membership criteria responses, then we'll be off to the races. :)
Jay
P.S. I'll send you a message I sent to Patrick Turner in June in response
to a message he sent to the new-imc list, just because it sort of answers a
question or two, at least that you had at that point.
