Regarding server space and bandwidth, Indymedia London already has secured space on a server and bandwidth and is thinking about using MIR code.
Regarding organisational skills: Many members of Indymedia London have been with Indymedia UK ever since it started in May 2000. The maintenance of the newswire of Indymedia UK and the various feature middle columns on Indymedia UK is mostly done by members of Indymedia London who also have trained new volunteers to do this. Being with Indymedia UK since it started up, members of Indymedia London have successfully encouraged a variety of local and UK-wide collectives to participate in Indymedia UK, as well as assisting Imc-Ireland and Imc-Wales to start up. Furthermore, the call for a UK-wide network meeting for collectives and individuals interested in participating in Indymedia UK or in setting up an IMC came from members of Indymedia London. That UK-wide network meeting took place in Manchester on September 14/15th.
outreach:
Indymedia London emphasises on collective spirit and decision making process. At the moment, Indymedia London consists of activists who have been with Indymedia UK ever since it started, and several action groups in the London borough of Hackney who autonomously run their subsection within the UK site, see http://uk.indymedia.org/index.php3?resist=hackney. Indymedia London is in regular contact with London Reclaim the Streets, the Wombles, Rising Tide, the No Borders Network, Critical Mass, the Social Centre Network, Rhythms of Resistance, and Genetics. Indymedia London is actively involved and holds meetings in the London Activist Resource Centre in Whitechapel, and collaborates with ComTech in Brixton, see http://www.communitytechnology.org.uk/ . Some members of Indymedia London are setting up a Public Access Internet Point in a squatted social centre. Indymedia London cooperates with the Nationial Union for Journalists (NUJ), see http://media.gn.apc.org/nuj.html , and sev!
eral of its members have opted to obtain a NUJ Press Card. No member of Indymedia London is a member of any political party.
