Hey Richard,
tony (cactus at zetnet) is doing the applications coming in from the uk.
I guess he'll take contact with all people involved as soon as possible.
Just one question, did you mail/contact the "london" people who filled
in the form to talk about this before you send this mail here ?

| We object 100% to this application.
|
| This application and the decision to make this application have
| been made by one [unnamed] London group without any previous
| notification, consultation or discussion whatsoever about it on
| any public UK (or European) Indymedia list - despite the fact
| that there are two Indymedia groups in London and many in the UK
| (who work on the IMC UK website).
|
| Up till the end of last week, discussion was continuing between
| the two London groups [the unnamed group and London working
| group(Lwg)] in general and in specifics about their long running
| disagreements. Even yesterday there was a face to face meeting
| between Toni from Lwg and Javier from the other group that lasted
| over four hours where no mention of this application was made at
| all.
|
| Because of the above, and of itself, pursuing this application
| would also be actually the implementation of the declaration of
| the exclusive ownership of 'imc-London' by one (largest) London
| group; and also the actual enforcement of their preferred
| definite way of working on all others that have and would want to
| work in Indymedia in London (and previously on the IMC UK
| website). And also the complete authoritarian dismissal of the
| body of example-documented, argued and reasoned-out criticisms
| of their preferred way of working and its (past) negative effect
| on Indymedia in London and the UK.
|
| This would also be the complete breaking of the IMC Membership
| Criteria working document by the group making this application -
| and which has previously argued that it is not valid or binding.

| c. Have open and public meetings (no one group can have
| exclusionary "ownership" of an IMC)
|
| It would also break the basic political premise that, even if in
| a minority, any person or group can involve themselves as much
| and however they choose so long as they do not contradict the
| defining principles and practices of the Indymedia Network and do
| not hinder or damage the work of others involved.
|
| Otherwise Indymedia would be just another example of a
| hierarchical dominating organization, which by allowing power
| over others to be imposed, effectively excludes all diversity;
| and renders its own commitments to certain values irrelevant [1]
| - and which is actually the result that this application
| effectively aims towards.

|
|
| [1] by not respecting existing agreements, like the Indymedia
| network's Membership Criteria draft or our own Mission Statement of
| IMC (Indymedia) UK which states that: "we reject all systems of
| domination and discrimination".
