[New-imc] KANSAS CITY (response)

Hi Samantha,

This is Jay from the Philadelphia IMC. A couple weeks ago you sent the
below note to Indymedia's imc-tech list. It made its way to the new-imc
working group, the group that helps aspiring IMCs go through the process of
joining the Indymedia network.

I'm really glad to hear you're forming an IMC in Kansas City! About a year
and a half ago I was passing through town and happened to hear about a
showing of a movie about the Latin Kings by Big Noise Films. I went, and
the room was packed. People were excitedly preparing to go to protests
against the FTAA in Quebec City. Kansas City seemed like a great place for
an IMC. Soon thereafter the new-imc working group received a request for
more information about forming an IMC from Andy J. Barenberg
(ABarenbe at swbell.net). Do you know him? I believe I wrote back, but
didn't hear much more.

As people may have already told you, the best place to find information
about the organizational steps necessary to form an IMC is
"http://newimc.indymedia.org". Look there and you'll find lots of
background about Indymedia, as well as suggestions as to what steps to take
to form your IMC. After that, it's all up to you. Organize well, and when
you're ready, you're ready.

I'm going to be away from e-mail for the next couple months, but feel free
to e-mail the new-imc working group (new-imc at indymedia.org) with any
questions. You're already in touch with imc-tech, which is the place to go
with technical questions like the one you asked below.

Good luck!

Jay
