i completely agree with you. i suppose its just a matter of
priorities and situation. the decision is that of the finance group
and was made years before my involvement. you can bet that the local
tech group will advocate a move to osfs if the conversation comes up
:)

heh, it is hard to get people to do tedious number crunching. i know
i tried playing the u-c imc bookkeeper for about 3 months volunteering
as much time as i could bare (about 3 or 4 hours a week) and never
made a dent. with lots of local exposure (large show space, community
radio station, providing free internet) just our local finances are
time consuming not to mention our obligations to other organizations
world wide. TINA or TIAA? I don't know why it is so hard to just
trust the ones who made the software choice (and they have stated they
evaluated available osfs). They would be the ones who know what the
job is going to require.
either way you are preaching to the wrong person... as i said i agree
with most points brought up by other global imcer's but am inclined to
trust the judgment of people who have done/doing the work.
