No! don't give that up! just a regular update to the existing software
on the server is all.

We were hoping to move to opensource. Basically, being the lazy suckers
we are, having some way that the more menial domain tasks can be done by
the domain owners themselves is the aim, without having things like
'lost password' going thru process and the sysadmins each time. avoid
bottlenecks.

Well the difficulty is that we are on fedora core 2, there's a number of
docs for upgrading mysql with Plesk to 4, and also PHP, I will have a
look at them, but from memory its not straight-forward.

The other option I have thought about is a dist-upgrade, but not sure of
the implications of this.

The other thought is with a new server, we have to look at what is
moving off axxs.org onto it, or just new sites etc. But this may be the
time that we purchase a third server, move the existing sites onto that
in a standard upgrade of the hardware and OS around the same time for
axxs.org. This is relatively easy with Plesk, and we can get a month
from the serverfarm of both machines to do the migration.

of course, this all begs the BIG question, what to call the new box, and
the domain :)
