[axxs-sysadmin] donations update and lunchtime rant

On the topic of donations, just thought I would list what we have
already received at http://axxs.org/donations as compared to what has
been offered.

NetAxxs are in the process of setting up a separate account for this
monies and future donations, so that monies can be placed directly into
it in future.

We are also organising with the datacenter options for seperation of the
account, so that it stands alone, and collective members have access to
the ticket system and reboot and recovery consoles independently of our
collective.

We need a wiki to organise, probably best off the server itself,
something like wiki.axxs.org, time is just my enemy, any ideas? I could
approach the rest of compcoll (xchange.anarki.net), we were looking at
getting media-wiki installed anyway .... or is there something already
setup somewhere we can use?

NetAxxs will continue to fund axxs.org as an 'incubator' for emerging
self-sustainable servers, meaning once we get the second one up,
donations coming in will start going to a third, donations on the new
oe, of course to cover it's next years expenses. The idea being that it
gives a year for the new server to get populated and self-funded with
groups that are willing to co-exist and mutually support their hosting
situation. Of course this relies on geeks willing to work together
collectively with these groups and manage a server.

Does a year sound enough? How do we ensure that these servers continue?
do we hold off on ongoing servers until existing servers are paid? lots
and lots of questions and reworking of aims etc

we need a wiki to get this sorted eh, we need docs as pointed out many a
time.

I really think that we should look at the spokescouncil model for
organising between server groups and groups of admins and users ... I've
been ticking over this idea with axxs.org and how we can possibly get
more involvement from the people on it, with mutual decision making over
new sites and services etc, crossing the geek/user divide fairly for
all. a big question. I wonder if it can be coded into an app 8-}

ok enough from me, finished my hot chips for lunch, bye for now ;) I
will endeavor to get down some points for a wiki and start collating the
basis for working on process and structure. Others might want to do
similar and we can get together a more formal structure of what we want
to do with this project and how, it's aims and methodologies.

so .. wiki is first step as I see it, and overdue.
