[axxs-sysadmin] [Collective] End of Life for Plesk for Linux for FedoraCore1, FedoraCore2, and FedoraCore3

NetAxxs are looking at doing a migration of the axxs.org machine to a
new server. Preference is for an upgrade to a debian system, but still
running Plesk on it, for the more basic users/sites still being able to
have more access to self-management, and having groups migrate when/if
they have people more technically able to handle the transition, or
willing to be supported by getting actively involved in the collective
and doing some learning ;) 

Migration from a plesk to plesk system takes around 30 minutes so long
as they are the same plesk versions (Ie: up to date).. I should know, I
have been doing it with the current NetAxxs servers. The main time is
taken in the DNS changes, which can take up to an hour or so to
propogate .. sometimes more for some end-users.

We are also wanting to keep an eye on the new bandwidth once some of the
larger sites are off, to see whether it's worth us moving to an
Australian based serverfarm in Sydney (if we are under 50gig a month
this is feasible) rather than the US.

If it's alright with the axxs.org collective we at NetAxxs would like to
investigate the options outlined above.

AOC need to work on the wiki and document some of the things about the
servers too, and process. All are invited to help out, and if your not
technical, but savvy, this is an area you can possibly contribute. (I
know .. time time :( I plonked up some of the thoughts I had re netaxxs
ideas on starting axxs.org under the relevant page, just from my
previous posts to the list  .. I think we also need to look at why the
index.php always shows on the wiki too :\
