hi axxs-sysadmin,

The G8 in Toya Lake (July, see links at top-right of
www.indymedia.org) is coming up very soon and the IMC Japan Tech group
can't wait much longer to try out samizdat.  Does anyone have any
objections to us initially putting the imc japan samizdat installation
on borg?

There is another "japan" server, but for various reasons, it will
be easier to try out samizdat on borg for the moment, and later on
we'll look at mirroring and/or shifting to the japan server.

As part of the proposal, i propose to give su access on borg to "kaz"
- he's well-known and trusted by the IMC Japan collective for many
years, though at the moment he's quite busy, so most of the
installation will, at least initially, be done by me, and kaz will
gradually take over.

This would most likely mean a potentially quite high load in early
July.  We'll definitely prepare backup plans, but the first thing
is to get the basic installation in place so that imc japan activists
can get used to the software and get it customised if needed.

My personal hope is that we'll get an imc site which functions
genuinely as more or less language-transparent and with
participatory-translation, which is especially important given
the language barrier/cultural stereotypes barrier between Japan
and many other cultures...
