in the absence of new servers (and bandwidth options), it 
seems worth it to fix berkman.  I'll see if I can arrange 
for physical access so someone can check out what the issue 
is (this would have to be via the one e-mail contact i 
have...)  if we get it back online, first priority is 
backing it up, so we can setup redundant systems, and wipe 
and upgrade the OS.

radio.indy was like the wild west as far as uploads and 
bandwidth abuse.. i certainly wouldn't want to host it
without an editorial collective keeping more of an eye on 
things.

there were also technical deficiencies however. e.g. the 
installed sf-active software had no GUI to make hidden 
uploads unreadable (had to be done via shell command).  
i.e. a better technical backend might be a pre-requisite to 
getting more folks involved in maintaining the site..
