Please forward to appropriate lists
For the last few months, the Boston Independent Media Center (IMC) has
been having technical difficulties with our website
(http://boston.indymedia.org ), making it unavailable for viewing most
of the time. We are happy to report that those technical difficulties
have been solved and the site is up and running again! Please come and
check it out--we have been continuing to update the site with new
feature stories, even during the period when it was frequently down.
For those of you not familiar with the Boston Independent Media Center,
we are part of an international network of Independent Media Centers
(see the Global IMC at http://www.indymedia.org and US IMC at
http://.indymedia.us/en ), with over one hundred local sites in cities
and countries around the world. We are an all volunteer, grassroots
alternative media network, operating on the principle of open
publishing. You can post your own news stories or opinion pieces to the
Boston IMC website simply by clicking on the "post an article" link
near the top of the page. Your story will instantly appear in the
open-publishing newswire on the right-hand side of the website, without
any moderation. The Boston IMC editorial collective selects the best
and most relevant stories submitted to the newswire and features them
in our center column. (We also hide any inappropriate postings, such as
advertisements and hate speech.) You can also make comments to any
story posted, so that the Boston IMC site doubles as a forum for
political discussion. Finally, we have one of the most extensive
calendars of activist events in Boston, accessible through a link on
the left-hand side of the website.
Anyone interested in getting more involved with the IMC beyond simply
posting to the site is welcome to come to our general meetings, which
take place the first Sunday of every month, 7:00 pm at the Lucy Parsons
Center, 549 Columbus Avenue, Boston.
Please check us out as a great source for grassroots, alternative
reporting on events and issues in Boston and the New England area.
