Walk for a New Spring

Statewide Peace Walk comes to Boston

March 17 - 20th

Walk For a New Spring an annual statewide peace walk
comes to Boston on Friday, March 17th to hold a "Peace
Memorial Walk" through communities affected by recent
violence.

Beginning at 9:30 am in the South End by the Cathedral
of the Holy Cross and traveling through Roxbury,
Dorchester, Mattapan, and Jamaica Plain, walkers will
visit sites of struggle, remembrance and hope to offer
prayer, reflection and solidarity to these
neighborhoods that have experienced an upsurge in
homicides and violent crimes. They will bear purple
ribbons and paper prayers as creative and spiritual
"Acts," to leave markers of peace.

In Boston, walkers will join with elected officials,
youth, organizers, interfaith groups, and community
members to express our commitment to returning the
streets to peace.
