This Tuesday, September 11, UGBC and the Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies Student Association are sponsoring an event as part of the Iraq Awareness Series. Nesreen, a schoolteacher from Iraq, is coming to speak about her experiences. The organization 121 Contact Iraq was founded by Bruce Wallace, a school teacher in New York who had lost a family member in the 9/11 tragedy. He sought a pen-pal connection between his class in New York and Nesreen's class in Baghdad. Through human contact, Bruce strives to put a human face on war.
