It's time for a STATEWIDE STUDENT MOVEMENT for more affordable, accessible public higher education!
On February 14th, students involved in Massachusetts Students Uniting (MSU) will be "studying in" in the
State House- so bring your books and homework! By visibly studying in the
State House, we will represent the work that we and our fellow students are
engaged in all across the state and will highlight the need for more
financial support from the state in order for all students in Massachusetts
to have access to higher education.
Specifically we are supporting:
1) The MASSGrant Program- The state's signature need-based financial aid program which has suffered severe budget cuts over the past decade.
2) The Commonwealth Educational Opportunity Grant- The first step toward free community college in Massachusetts- a new grant that would provide financial aid to community college students.
3) Education Parity- Allowing undocumented immigrant students who have graduated from high school in Massachusetts to pay in-state tuition rates rather than high out-of-state rates.
Students will be meeting at 11am at the General Hooker Entrance (the main visitor entrance) of the State House. We will then move to our studying location.
Stick around afterward for the kick of of PHENOM's spring campaign at 1pm.
