#2. FROM SMEDLEY BUTLER BRIGADE OF VETERANS FOR PEACE:
 FUNDRAISER FOR “WINTER SOLDIER” Hearings
SUNDAY 1/27 AT 3 PM IN NEWTON.
 From Nate Goldschlag:
The Winter Soldier hearings that Iraq Veterans Against The War (IVAW) are holding March 13-16 promise to be extremely important in building the antiwar and GI resistance movements. Iraq and Afghanistan veterans as well as Iraqi and Afghan civilians will testify about what is really happening, and if this gets media attention the American public will hear testimony that they have never heard before.

The budget for this undertaking is extremely large. A documentary film will be made, the hearings will be webcast, people will be flown in from around the world, etc. Veterans For Peace is committed to raising a large amount of money to support IVAW.

The local Smedley Butler Brigade chapter of VFP will be holding a fundraiser on Sunday 1/27 at 3 PM in Newton. Howard Zinn, Liam Madden of IVAW, and original Winter Soldier participant Joe Bangert will speak. An excerpt from the original Winter Soldier film from 1972 will be shown. A pdf version of the flyer can be seen at:
