[Boston-editorial] editorial guidelines?

hey there,

A few suggestions that I've seen floating around and
collected a bit from the archives. Just trying to
summarize for further discussion:

CENTERING ARTICLES (What we don't center):

- press releases
- calls for action, unless they are backed up by an
actual article
- event announcements, unless the collective is
working on it and sees fit. For example,
coverage/announcement of the DNC (this could require
voting)
- direct political party sponsorship

DELETING ARTICLES (What we like to delete):

- posts by fascist orgs
- racists, sexist, or post promoting hate
- death threats
- slanderous posts (particularly when they include
photos & phone numbers)--this one is sketchy
- posts that promote direct violence (as opposed to
"militant resistance")
- anything that promotes corporate sponsorship
- posts discreting Indymedia

I'm sure I'm missing stuff, but what's not on the
above list could go through some kind of collective
decision process via email. When I doubt, please ask
first before deleting/posting?

I like not having the editorial power to actually do
any of this... :) You should see how relaxed I look
right now.

cheers,
Sofia
