Hello all --

I don't know if you've seen this, but Sofia wrote and posted an article
about Ecuador here:
http://boston.indymedia.org/newswire/display/34915/index.php

Right now, this doesn't fit our center column guidelines, but I've
actually been thinking about this sort of thing in a couple different
lights. It seems to me that it makes sense to allow ourselves to
feature article on issues with no immediate local connection or impact
if they're written by a local writer (which Sofia qualifies as). I've
also been thinking that, if we want to build ties to immigrant
communities in Boston as part of diversifying our readership and
volunteers, featuring articles on what's going on in their home
countries would be valuable--many immigrants care a lot about this
stuff, since they still have family there and often plan to move back
after they've made enough money and just because it's their homeland.

What do you all think? And can we decide this over the e-mail list or
do we need to hash it out at the next editorial meeting?
