Dear fellow editors,

Just an FYI.

Some of the foremost progressive/radical media activism organizers (not news producers, but advocates
for social justice through media) are educating and activating the public about wireless Internet access.

They see its importance resembling that of community access TV, with huge implications for the future,
just like the Telecom Acts of 1934 and 1996 have defined the openings or barriers that independent and
community media face today.

Groups like Media Access Project, Media Tank, Free Press, Prometheus Radio Project and more. They see
another Telecom Act developing over the next few years, and the public deserves far more input than the
corporations always have.

Last night one of them said, imagine if Comcast is allowed to control which web sites their subscribers
can get to, just like they control how much extra you pay for the "extra" TV channels you want, like Free
Speech TV or C-SPAN. Or IndyMedia.org . They also held up and promoted the Boston IndyMedia flyer
to a local audience, suggesting they get involved.

In fact, the case in court this week has these very implications. We have a lot of important work ahead of
us. We need to be allies for the bigger struggle.

Cheers,
John
