Boston IMC General Meeting Minutes?8 May 2005

In attendance: Margje, Corey, Petrina, Pete, Rob, David, Sharpie, Andrew

Quick bits:

- John's budget structure presentation asks working groups to add budget
structure to their agenda and come up with a written budget of operational
costs and funding goals. Please see item #2.

I. List Etiquette and Group Dynamics?Heated discussions have recently
erupted on the newswire because of discrepancies between groups regarding
the content of stories. The topic moved into a lengthy discussion on
internal issues, which will be revisited at a later date due to time
constraints and when more core members are present to discuss.

II. Budget Structure?John reported about our current financial status and
envisioning our needs over the next months and years. He suggested
working groups draw up budgets focusing on projects that were funded by
the IMC and even into personal costs, as well as drawing up a list of
organizational needs and goals. These collected budgets will allow the
Boston IMC to better plan funding as well as draw up overall operational
costs for grantwriting. Group moderator and core members, please add this
item to your group agendas.

III. Nena Gathering? The Northeastern North American Gathering (NENA) will
tentatively (but very likely) take place June 10-12 in Western Mass. This
weekend is for media activists brings together people from all over New
England to show recent projects, meet others, find ways to work together
and generally have fun. Already a few Boston IMC volunteers are planning
to attend. Those interested in attending this event should join the
IMC-NENA mailing list; visit
http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/listinfo/imc-nena to subscribe.

Other agenda items were tabled due to a lack of time.

Next general meeting will be held the first Sunday of June, 5th, 7pm at
the Lucy Parsons Center. Rob will facilitate. Anyone is welcome to
attend; directions are on the Boston Indymedia website for those who have
not previously attended.
