Hi folks.
Firstly, I would like to thank Andrew for posting such an extensive agenda to the list.
Secondly, I wholeheartedly approve the agenda (even if it's a bit hard to read) and would like to add some additional items that are in line with Pete's request to discuss "Committing to inclusiveness".
As Pete has mentioned in recent posts, there are several responsibilities that he has performed for the successful running of and organizational structure to Boston IndyMedia. I would like to add to the agenda the proposal that several volunteers step up to relieve Pete of some of these responsibilities that he has admitted to not fulfilling to the best of his abilities lately. Not only will this help insure that the jobs are actually getting done, it will also help re-distribute more evenly some of the work that is the running of Boston IndyMedia.
"I have also been extremely limited on answering emails and answering the phone" and "Then there's the bank account. and the mail, the listservs, and more that I have traditionally done."

"This is something [announcing meetings/planning agendas] I traditionally kept my eye on and since my big pullback it isn't happening."

I would also like to suggest adding to the end of the agenda a discussion on the idea of "inclusion" that Pete continues to raise on the lists. While I personally feel that Pete has contributed as much to the negative environment at Boston IndyMedia as the rest of us over the past year or more, I believe that the whole group have played roles in allowing the tensions and conflicts to happen and persist at BIMC. I am very interested in discusing in-person how Boston IndyMedia can create an environment that is inclusive and free from heirarchy, however, I have a very strong feeling that we will not reach all of the answers to our problems in one short 1.5 hour meeting that also has agenda items that involve the "work" of the collective. Based on previous experience that we have had at meetings discussing variations of this exact topic, I am almost certain that we will be unable to fully discuss it, let alone make a concensus decision on how to immediately solve the internal problems
that we face. If we can, that will be great! In the meantime, I look forward to continuing this discussion after the 2 month online/meeting break that we've had and starting to re-examine how we can create a structure that allows for more inclusiveness and less power mongering.
So, because Andrew is SO through and I'm a huge fan on saving time and being effecient, I propose altering the proposed agenda to reflect the actual working needs of the group as well as our need to discuss the conflict/power structure/inclusive topic. Editing Andrew's agenda to include and restructure around these agenda items looks something like this:
revised Proposed Agenda
1) Welcome/Facilitator role
2) Review Agenda
3) Reportbacks: Office operations, Website operations, Editorial update, Multimedia Project (Radio/Video), Video Project, Other groups or projects?
4) Identify Current Tasks, Redistribute IMC duties and Assume Responsibility
5) Upcoming Projects
6) Inclusiveness/Conflict/Power Structure Discussion
7) Set Next Meeting Date/Time/Facilitator
8) Conclusion/Round Robin
What do people think?
Svea.
