That isn't what I heard at all, nor did I take it that any of the
alternative media listed later were being disparaged.

The issue is "are we competing with corporate media?" as I heard it.
Related to this "are our writers competing with corporate media or
trying to advanvce  professional independent media careers?"

It seemed to me that the idea was to be supportive of this and that
using Indymedia as a training ground for more "professional" endevous
in the same spirit is a good thing.

I don't want to put words in other people's mouths but I rather agree
with the statements as I interpret them.
