[IMC-Boston-Editorial] Website problems and other responsibilities,
preparing for my departure

Hey folks, I cleaned up the newswire just now out of
some sense of obligation to the community but I'm
really not thinking of staying in IMC if the group
continues to ignore serious problems having to do with
verbal abuse and personal attacks,
On the other hand there isn't a spot of me that would
like to see the IMC website go down in flames after
all the work we did. Sharpie of course has a
brilliant excuse not to be doing anything state side
(go man go!), but I would hope that other folks who
are so adamant about changes to our policies lately
would be able to chip in and keep things clean on the
site.
The main things I see going wrong are a bunch of
articles that only have links, and a bunch of articles
in Local that should be in Elsewhere.
I have also been extremely limited on answering emails
and answering the phone, and since dave dropped out
too and Tim has moved on, there really isn't anybody
left to do these things.
Then there's the bank account. and the mail, the
listservs, and more that I have traditionally done.
At the next general meeting, I am proposing that we
enact some sort of rule against verbal abuse and
personal attacks against IMC volunteers, similar to
what I have proposed before. IF nothing constructive
comes of that, if the group does not begin to consider
it's own responsibilty of protecting volunteers, I am
out completely and moving on to new pastures. so
people should really be thinking about all this.
I want my leaving to be smooth, not rough for those
that want to stay, so people are really going to have
to step up and be responsible.
-Pete
