(sorry this is late. Please let me know if I forgot anything or if you are interested in contributing to any of the projects below.)
People present: Jonathan, Jamie, Angie and family, Sam, Sofia, I-Hsien
(I'm placing the events up on top, since that's a priority for now)
* EVENTS:
BOSTON DELEGATION TO PALESTINE: Angie and Jamie talked about their interest in the BIMC sponsoring and organizing (w/endorsing orgs) multiple speaker events for the Boston Delegation to Palestine; not necessarily as a fundraiser but to stay active in the community. Angie mentioned there are a few movies related to the trip that we could show before/after the speakers. Target date: 1st or 2nd week in October.
Action Items: Angie will talk with and report on BDP possible speaker format; she will confirm lenght and availability of films. Jamie will find out about space availability @ Harvard, Sofia @ Roxbury Community College, I-Hsien @ MIT. Sam will look into printing costs for flyers.
INDYMEDIA FILMSCREENING
Amy Dalton from US Indymedia reached out to us to help them show 2 Indymedia films (one from Argentina and one about The Indypendent newspaper in NY) in Boston for September 2nd. Sofia will find a space for it. We need to print flyers and start the outreach for the event... More on this soon!! Possible fundraiser?
* VOLUNTEER MANUAL: we distributed the BIMC Volunteer Manual to all members present and requested feedback for next monthly meeting (Sept). This manual will be distributed among all new members.
* EDITORIAL POLICIES: we talked about Editorial policies, now that we have new editors in the group. We stressed our policy on hiding/deleting " Hate posts; posts that explicitly express sexism, racism, homophobia, or other forms of prejudice." To see a complete list of current editorial policies go to:

Jonathan also expressed his concern about coverage of underrepresented communities in East Boston, Chelsea, JP; the Students for a Dem. Society workshops. Sofia suggested we need to make better use of the Dispatch list.
* WEB SITE: Jamie mentioned he had lunch with Dana and that Dana/Rob have not abandoned the "new web site" idea. Sofia mentioned about posting it as a volunteer opportunity at Idealist.org (Jon was to come up with a description). Someone suggested getting in touch w/TechsChange.
We discussed what we would like to see on a new site, including:
- community accountability: as a new way of editing the site and in addition to the Editors' ability to edit it. Creating way of community "censoring" of disruptive trolls from the site.
- related to "flagging": a way to flag members as well as rating articles...
- requiring a login for all Indymedia web users
- improving our Calendar to make it more user-friendly and making it "the" place to post for the activist community
To see the new web site (per last demo by Rob) go to:

* PRESS PASSES: We talked about getting press passes for new members (see Volunteer Manual, 3-month introductory period required). The current passes work great to go into many public events... Eventually we'd like a very professional ID card. Anyone interested in getting a press pass, please contact Sofia.
* BUSINESS CARDS: Jonathan volunteered to design b-cards for the BIMC, which could be easily printed on a home printer w/card stock
* POSTERS: They are READY... It's just a matter of printing them. I-Hsien mentioned he has a friend who works on screen printing (cheaper than printer) and will ask about details. Sam can print smaller flyers. Sofia to send poster design to all.
* INDYMEDIA WORKSHOPS: Sofia talked about who Richmond IMC had expanded greatly only by conducting small workshops around communities on how to post to the site. This had created about 5-6 decentralized IMCs in Richmond, all working to develop the site. Workshops talk to continue for the Fall.
