[IMC-Boston-Editorial] Voting Rights Reauthorization Act of 2006

Today, President George W. Bush signed the Fannie Lou Hamer, Rosa Parks, and Coretta Scott King Voting Rights Act Reauthorization Act Of 2006.  This historic piece of legislation honors the memory of these three women who devoted their lives to establishing civil rights for all Americans and this legislation was named in their honor.

The Voting Rights Act Reauthorization Act of 2006 reaffirms our nation's commitment to enforce the right to vote for all Americans.  The President has committed his administration to vigorously enforce this law and to defend it in the courts.  The President will continue to work with Congress to ensure that our country lives up to our guiding principle that all men and women are created equal.
