I think it's time to turn off comments.

the site is really dragging and it's completely because of the spam
bots (well OK yahoo crawler is helping).  I didn't want to do this
untill I had a reasonable expection that we could do something that
would enable us to turn comments back on in a reasonable time.

Thanks to Sofia I again have Spud's ear (the guy who writes DadaIMC).
Don't know how I lost him before as he was very helpful and then very
unreachable.  I going to try and run with this a quickly as possible
in the hopes of getting things patched up before he evaportates again.

Any objection to suspending comments for a few days?
