hi chiquitos/as,

I was thinking we could meet to evaluate how the weekend film fest went, but I'm quite exhausted and I'm sure most of you are as well. Instead, could we share our thoughts via this list to evaluate how the weekend went?

Total raised: $199 minus $24 for copies made, $10 for sodas = $165 and
(we're supposed to pay $60.oo to the Democracy Center for the projector, but I'm going to see if we can get a discount on that... I'm not sure if it's $30.oo each day or for the entire weekend)

We can decide as a group how to spend the $$, but my personal vote is to invest most cash on those who want to go the Media Reform Conference. I think both Jonathan and Sam are applying for scholarships. We have an additional $500.oo on a different account for bills; I have yet to contact Rob for that.

Here's my evaluation:
The festival was too long and too much work for the amount of $$ made. If we ran it again, I'd make it shorter (3 films instead of 6 per day or so). Not sure this is the best kind of fundraiser we could have... Also, I felt that because we had to cover both the WTO and Oaxaca events, we weren't able to coordinate last details together as a collective. I meant to ask people to check/approve the last films selected (as time/space permitted) and didn't. My apologies for that. We also didn't have enough people to sell popcorn and sodas... And, spending a whole weekend in the dark like that was tough... Specially with a beautiful sunny weekend like we had.

On the Good side of things, it was awesome to work together with everyone, specially on Sunday. The people who *did* attend the festival, seemed to get a lot out of it. Many people signed up to the list. There were at least 2 people who are interested in coming to meetings. I also made connections w/the people from The Underground newspaper, and one of our attendees was so moved by the Atenco and Oaxaca movies that said he's going there soon to help.

peace,
sofia
