Gen. Meeting Minutes: OCTOBER 16
Present: Jonathan, Mike, Marjy, Sam, Sofia, Sofe
NEXT MEETING: Wednesday, October 25 @ the Democracy Center (45 Mt. Auburn Street)
IMC RADICAL FILM FESTIVAL
We collectively selected 22 movies (including a few 10 mins shorts) for the festival from lists I got from many of you. See final list below. We focused on trying to cover some important subjects such as: media, race, gender, labour, Palestine, Indonesia, social mvmt's, etc.
DATE (important! please read... )
We decided to change the date to November 11-12, however, that Sunday the Democracy Center was reserved for a Yoga class. I've contacted the person running the class to see if we could switch weekends. Right now we have the space reserved for November 4-5. Should we just stick w/this date?
PUBLICITY
Mike and Sofia will write descriptions for the movies (could anyone else help with this?). Marjy will help us posting the movie festival on the Phoenix, Weekly Dig, Globe. Sofia will start a flyer design and hand final touches to Jonathan. Sofe suggested the flyer should have a link to a web page with full movie descriptions. Sam will contact his friend about the Indymedia poster.
NEWS COVERAGE
Jonathan proposed a few things we could cover for Indymedia, including an Argentinian labor event tomorrow Thursday (see: http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/boston-dispatch/2006-October/1017-tn.html) and the Chelsea fight against a plant being built there. He will send his ideas via the Dispatch list for us.
COMMUNICATION
We agreed about trying to center our communications at the IMC through the Editorial and Dispatch lists. Editorial for the site and general communications and Dispatch for news coverage. People are getting too many duplicated emails... We should continue to use the Announcement list for people outside of the IMC.
Smal side note: I should've asked someone else to take notes for the mtg. Please remind me next time! ;)
peace,
Sofia
