Greetings,
I want to let you know that my last day at United for a Fair Economy will be
September 22. I'd also like to introduce UFE's new Communications Director,
Bob Keener (more on him below).
I'll continue to promote efforts for a fairer economy, including the
national ³Let Justice Roll" campaign to raise the minimum wage
(http://letjusticeroll.org); the 50% Club (a network of wealthy people who
give away at least half of their income or assets -
http://donorleaders.org/welcome_50.php); Class Action
(http://www.classism.org); and work related to my book "Class Matters"
(http://www.classmatters.org). I hope I'll still be in touch with you.
You can reach me at betsy at classmatters.org, 781-704-4039 (cell), or
781-648-0630 (home).
It's been an amazing nine years at UFE, publicizing things like:
* Responsible Wealth's campaign to preserve the estate tax with Bill Gates,
Sr. and 2,000 other multimillionaires;
* shareholder resolutions at Wal-Mart, Wells Fargo and other companies;
* annual "State of the Dream" reports on the growing racial wealth divide,
and "Executive Excess" reports on the growing CEO:worker pay gap;
* the war profiteer who threw the $10 million party;
* and most recently the book "The Color of Wealth," which I was honored to
co-author with UFE's Executive Director Meizhu Lui, and which I¹ll continue
to speak and write about.
I know UFE will continue to spotlight the many outrageous ways that
inequality is growing.
I want to introduce you to UFE's new Communications Director, Bob Keener.
You may have already talked with Bob, as UFE has been tapping into his savvy
media skills on a consultant basis since 2003. We are delighted to welcome
him to the UFE staff.
Bob has more than 15 years of communications experience in the for-profit
and non-profit sectors. He has always been passionate about economic
justice, and I know he is excited about keeping you posted on UFE's analyses
of growing economic inequality. He plans to be in touch soon.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 781-704-4039, or Bob
at 617-423-2148 x120, bkeener at faireconomy.org.
Wishing you all the best,
Betsy Leondar-Wright
