Why would a student spend 20 minutes filling out the Military/Pacifist
Similarities Survey? This is a 45 item list of similarities between military
and pacifist views about international conflicts. The survey was developed
by Quaker pacifists in the US.
We pacifists want to make peace with the military. This survey is
the first step. We¹ll invite all who take part to join an ongoing dialog.
Why should you take the survey?
1. AFTER we receive your emailed, filled-out copy of the Survey, we
email you the supporting notes and references. Those could be a useful
starting point for student papers in political science, international
relations, antiterrorism, peace studies, military science, etc.
2. After filling out the Survey, you may find yourself better able
to understand the similarities between those favoring military attacks and
those advocating peaceable solutions to international conflicts and
terrorist threats. Your increased awareness might itself be a topic for
papers dealing with personal growth, for example.
3. By filling our the survey, you become eligible to follow (and
participate in) an email dialog beginning in March 2007 between advocates of
military and supporters of pacifist approaches. You might find more still
material for papers by reading those exchanges, even if you don¹t take part
in the discussion directly.
To obtain your copy, Email wrbftaylor1 at comcast.net (That¹s all one
word: ³wrbftaylor² and the numeral ³1² at Comcast.net.)
Just type the word ³survey² in your message. We¹ll email you your
Survey. You fill it out and email back to us. We send you the notes and
references.
Tell all your friends! Everyone should do the survey. You don¹t
have to be an expert on war or peace.
And thanks for helping make peace between the pacifists and the
military.
