Hey there, not sure who's part of this list. I wont be
able to attend tonite's indy social in Brighton since
Im meeting with CAEF members, but will try to make the
next monthly general meeting.

I did want to let you know that I have a background in
geography, I make maps for the Dept of Fish and Game,
my thesis involved news maps, and I have general
experience with graphics and gis software.

Unless this is already an objective you've set as a
group, I'd like to discuss the development/training of
people interested in creating infographics (incl.
various illustrative models) and particularly the
composition and design of news maps.

I think that these would be an attractive and
compelling way to contribute to the written reporting
done by others, just as most news outlets and
syndicates recognize. (I believe nyc.indymedia uses
cmap.org for some of its local cartographic coverage).
