Hi,
A few tips on how to reach out to Ad Sponsors:
- Call first. Find out who is your contact person and
talk to them on the phone.
- Make an appointment or follow up with an email with
further information (SEE BELOW SAMPLE EMAIL AND
ATTACHMENTS)
- Follow up, follow up, follow up. Preferably in
person! Build your client base. Remember that this is
not on their priority list, you have to make it so.
- Contact me with any questions and follow up. My
direct cel # is 617-803-7496.
Please remember to let me know if you find any new
clients. We need to maintain our database up-to-date.
Peace!
Sofia J.

Dear Bryan,
Per our phone conversation, please find attached
Underwriting Rates for ad placements on our newspaper,
"The Boston Independent," to be released on October
20th. We are hoping to take advantage of the momentum
built around the election to make our news collective
known to the public.
What is Boston Independent Media? With autonomous
chapters in more than 120 cities throughout the world,
Independent Media Centers (IMCs) are an international
network of volunteer media activists.
The IMC seeks to create a new media ethic by providing
progressive, in-depth, and accurate coverage of local,
national, and global issues and events. We are a
community-based organization using media to facilitate
political and cultural self-representation. We seek
to create a forum that will illuminate and analyze
issues affecting individuals, communities, and
ecosystems by providing media tools and space to those
seeking to communicate. We espouse open dialogue and
placing the means of communication and creativity back
in the hands of the people, away from the drive for
profit or the dependency on corporate donors.
With a targeted distribution of 25,000 issues, twice
per month, "The Boston Independent" relies solely on
donations and sponsorship from small businesses and
non-profit organizations that promote fair trade,
human rights, social justice, ecological
sustainability, and business responsibility.
Currently, we are offering a 25% discount for all our
new clients!! Plus an additional 10% for non-profit
organizations. We encourage you to take advantage of
this one-time opportunity. The deadline for ad
placements is October 12th.
I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for
helping us make a difference! Please do not hesitate
to contact me directly if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Sofia Jarrin-Thomas
Advertising Coordinator
