[IMC-Boston-Print] Idea for a writer's forum

Hey everyone on the IMC print list!

At the last IMC general meeting a couple of us active
Indymedia folks who are interested in the print thing
(starting a newspaper or publication someday soon)
thought it might be a good idea to call a meeting.

I thought it might be a good idea to not only talk
about what we want to do someday at said meeting, but
what we do now, how we can be better reporters and how
we can get published more often in more places writing
about what we want to write about. This could be open
to everyone interested in positive social change,
regardless of whether they want to write for indymedia
or not.

I can see from looking over this list that at least a
few of us are working in other publications around
town, maybe a bunch of us. I'm sure many others on
here are at an earlier stage and want to break in and
get published.

We can all help each other out.

Here's some ideas of what we could talk about, but
really it's open. I would just like to get some
writers together who care about making positive change
in our communities and see what happens.

Sharing resources (how to's of writing/reporting)

Dialogues about what are the important issues for
Bostonians, what should we be covering?

Making lists and connections to friendly publications

Ideas for getting published as Indymedia (syndicating
sort of)

trading editing expertise

collaborating on bigger writing projects

ideas for our own publication

more.. (insert your idea here)

If a few people respond positively to this and name
some times during the week that they are available, I
can put together a time and central place for us to
meet based on that.

peace-

Pete
