Hello Video folks!

I'm sorry this message comes so late! This is one of several back-logged messages that should be posted today.

CCTV Training

The first of several Cambridge Community TV Orientations happened on Wednesday, June 30th. We have 5 Video folks in attendance: Robert, Lev, Scott, Mike and Svea. Sharpie was late but stopped by my place for a brief update later that evening evening.

Our orientation included a tour of the facilities, including CCTV's live studios, computer labs, editing suites and dubbing station. After a brief introduction and overview of the history of CCTV. After the tour, we discussed CCTV's requirements for our use of space, including IMC's need to sign a contract stating that we will respect their equipment and accept responsibility for abuse of the space. There are also several courtest rules that we will need to follow to use the space, and Robert is drafting a list that will be mutually acceptible.

At this point, our use of space is as follows:

We can enter the facility on July 23rd to setup for the DNC-IMC coverage. There will be a short list of Boston IMC and others who will receive a full training for how to use the space. One of these "Trainers" will need to be at CCTV at all times for us to use the space. We'll need to figure out rotating shifts and stuff in the next few weeks. We have 24-hour access to each area that is being donated to the IMC team. CCTV is airing our pre-recorded "Segments" during their programming. Susan has also offered us a daily 20-30 minute slot for prerecorded news programming (material must be submitted to programming director by 9pm each day before airtime)

Robert agreed to draft a "CCTV Rules" document that we discussed during the meeting and have formally submit to Susan for comments. Some of the "CCTV Rules" refer to the IMC "Press Pass Application" that Boston IMC has created to insure respect of our donor's space. We will probably be signing the CCTV use-of-space contract on the 19th. Both drafts of these documents are posted at the end of this message.

We also arranged a meeting for July 19th at 6:30pm(?) to meet with Susan to sign our contract, deliver our "Segments" for their inclusion in their programming, and discuss other last-minute organizational stuff. Mike and I attended the monthly Orientation to better familiarize ourselves with the CCTV community and the organization that we're receiving our space donation from.

CCTV Followup Meeting

After we finished meeting with Susan, we all met outside of CCTV and talked about plans, goals, and proposals for the various Video projects at the DNC. We discussed the following proposals for Projects:

"Segments", scheduling a time to review segments (July 17th or 18th), mailings of segments (to local access or imc's), daily television broadcast (20-30 minutes) for CCTV, legal council before we air daily footage (from National Lawyers Guild), creating rotating shifts at CCTV for 24 hour access, creating table for laptops in dubbing room, dispatch & collection of footage for news program, long-term experimental documentary project, mailings for documentary, and we all shuffled VHS tapes that we're borrowing/lending each other.

Yay!

Svea.
