In response to escalating human rights violations, activists from around the
world have decided to initiate a Day in Solidarity with Political Prisoners
Worldwide. Donato Continente, a recently released political prisoner from
the Philippines explains: "It's time we took a united and international
approach to the freeing of political activists and freedom fighters - it's
essential that we share our experiences and that we mount international
campaigns."

Simultaneous events will take place in 25 countries around the world
including the Philippines, Turkey, Mexico, Croatia, Spain and other cities
around North America, such as Vancouver, BC, Oakland, CA, Bellingham, WA,
Philadelphia, PA, and New York City.

At this time of increasing repression, we encourage you to attend an event
celebrating political prisoners here and around the world. It will be an
interesting and invigorating afternoon as we join together to build our
collective strength for the present and future efforts to defend and free
all political prisoners.
