Dear friends,
Tomorrow, in fact, early tomorrow, a group of right-wing nativists will be
protesting _against_ immigrant workers in Framingham. We will be meeting at
7:00 a.m. Saturday outside the:
Padaria Brasil Bakery
165 Concord St, Framingham, MA
(508) 872-8698
It is right in downtown Framingham, outside the Town hall. Please see the
forwarded e-mail below for more details. I will be driving to the event at
around 6:00 - 6:30 a.m. going from Woburn south through Downtown on the 93
and then out on 90W. If anyone on the route wants a ride, I can pick them
up.
Thank you for considering this notice: as you know Congress is mobilizing
powerful anti-immigrant forces as the Senate considers its own legislation
that will further target immigrants.

It seems that anti-immigrant groups in Framingham are indeed holding a
protest against immigrant day-laborers this Saturday (January 7) in the
early morning (7:00 or 7:30 until 9:00 am).
Location: "across the street from the Padera Brazil Bakery next to CVS in
Downtown Framingham. We will be on the side of the Memorial Building facing
the bakery."
According to a post on the CCFIILE yahoogroup, they will "have signs that
say it is illegal to hire illegals, and a few other specialty signs saying
Illegals bring disease."
note: I am not sure the information above is accurate, but we have heard
from several sources that there will be something in Framingham. This is
part of a national anti-immigrant / anti-day labor action.
The question: should we do anything? Very short notice, but we might all be
able to get a total of 10 people together if it seems important.
Alternative: wait for their next public meeting 2 weeks later, and have a
big counter-demo there... Or do both. Still waiting to hear back from
Framingham contacts to see what they think. Anyone have thoughts? Ana
Amaral from JwJ is interested, but not sure about others.
Here's a photo from a similar protest in Framingham a few weeks ago.
