  INCITE MEDIA MTG MINUTES 01/05
  Present: sharpie, mike, andrew, christiano, marjy, sofia
  
  Next Mtg: FEBRUARY 2ND, 6:00 pm @ SCAT.
  
  UPDATES:
  Sharpie has raised about $800 to go back to Iraq. He needs about $5,000  to be able to stay there for for 2-3 months.  He's currently  touring giving talks about the situation there and has trips planned to  NH, VT, and NY.
  
  Mike's going to the World Social Forum in Venezuela between January  23-31. He's planning to take a lot of video and will be working with  another 3 people from the Boston delegation to the WSF on video  projects.
  
  Sharpie mentioned the possibility of going to Rochester to see the Indymedia TV show produced there, TV Dinner.
  
  WORKING VIDEO LIST
  Following up on previous discussions, the group made a decision to  keeping the Boston Working Video List closed, that is, not posted on  the web site. This working list has allowed us to plan future Incite  Media shows and is separate from the Boston Video List.  There was  agreement that the list will be announced on the minutes.
  
  FEBRUARY STUDIO TRAINING
  We're anxious to move our show from the hot set to the studio at SCAT.  It would allow us to record digitally and give us more freedom to show  roll-ins (vhs, minidv, dvd).  Sharpie will contact Rich to ask  whether we can get a personal advanced training from him, since we took  the Intro class already.  If Rich agrees, Sofia volunteered to ask  Wendy if we can proceed.  
  
  There was also the idea of coming to the Rock Candy show (once a month @ SCAT) to see how it's studio-produced.
  
  Andrew requested approval from the group to also have a debate show  (once we have access to the studio) under the sponsorship of Indymedia.  Group okayed.
  
  MONTHLY MEETING & SHOW FORMAT
  We decided that we need a regular monthly meeting, last Thursday of  every month, from 6:00-8:00 pm.  That night, we would have a  pre-recorded show. Next meeting will be: FEBRUARY 2ND, 6:00 pm at SCAT.
  
  The meeting would be a show-planning for the following month, as well  as other items.  Each Incite Media member should bring a  topic  to the table and we'll make a collective decision on what  to pursue/air.
  
  The producer of that show will then be responsible for running the  show, getting a host, collecting roll-ins, asking for volunteers,  scheduling the guests, etc.
  
  There was also a proposal to have a 30-min meeting before the show. No decision was made whether to proceed with this or not.

  OUTREACH
  Andrew stepped down as the volunteer coordinator to focus more on  Boston Indymedia needs. For now he and Christiano talked about doing  outreach together for Incite Media.  Sofia might collaborate since  Jamie & her had been talking about doing outreach as well for  Indymedia in general. Target: boston journalism schools.
  
  ROLES
  Here are some of the established roles (sorry if I missed some):
  
  1. Intro roll-in for Incite Media: sharpie/Karen
  (sharpie requested we send him ideas about the intro. sharpie, please remind us to do so!)
  2. Indymedia Hour: sharpie/mike  (post-mtg.): Svea stepped from this role. It requires showing 1 tape a  month for the International Indymedia hour, 9:00-10:00 pm at SCAT.  Sofia's responsible for that hour at CCTV.
  3. Outreach: andrew/christiano
  4. Tech Support: marjy
  5. Headlines: sofia/mike
  6. Volunteer Coordinator: none
  7. Indymedia Newsreal: marjy
  It entails producing a 5-min video each month and mailing it to Indymedia Newsreal. If aired, we'll receive $50.
