Hi Sarah, Claudia, and Marcela

I'm writing this in the hopes that someone will have acces to Internet to
read this before tomorrow. If any of you three receive this, could you
pass it on to the others? We want to thank you all for helping us out on
such short notice. It's so exciting that we've been able to figure this
all out so quickly. I really think the story in South America will be an
important addition to the overall story. I'm hoping to make sure
everything is clear since there have been a number of overlapping
correspondences.

We are looking for a few different things from there.

Joe Richey talked with Marcela last week about helping us with a story on
the water situation in Bolivia. She was recommended by Jim Schultz as
someone who could give us a quick report on camera regarding the water
situation in Bolivia. I believe she confirmed that she could do this with
Claudia tomorrow. Claudia, I will talk with you tomorrow about this, but
I wanted to send what we'd like to hear from Marcela in writing as well.
We would like a recap of what the situation is there; what are the main
problems. If Marcela could talk about the companies that are causing
problems there. If she can talk about the role of the World Bank and IMF
that would be great too.

Along the same lines, we'd like to hear from as many representatives from
the different countries in South America who can tell us the same thing:
what is going on with water in their own countries.
We would also like to hear from campesinos of Bolivia who have little
access to or cannot afford clean water because of the private companies
(Bechtel).

For our piece profiling Public Citizen we would like an interview with
Sarah. If Claudia (or someone else) can ask Sarah about the organization,
that would be great. What is Public Citizen about? Why are you in
Bolivia? Explain the event, what you've been doing there. Why are you
interested in the Bolivian water situation, how long have you been working
on this issue? How can people (viewers in the US) help? Talk about
Bechtel.
We'd like to use this video along with any video Claudia can provide us
with on the event, representatives from all the countries, activities
events tomorrow (Friday). Footage of Bechtel would be amazing.

If we could have someone translating Spanish interviews that would be
great. Have the interviewee speak a few lines before having the translator
speaking in English.

I know this is a lot to ask on such short notice. But we think this is
an issue that many Americans don't know about and should. We'd like to be
able to show them how the people living in these countries have to worry
about something as basic as water that most people would consider a human
right. I hope we'll be able to show how hard South Americans are working
to fight this and how we as Americans might help.
We would like to talk about reimbursing Claudia for any tape she provides,
as well as payment for services. Please give all tapes to Sarah who will
send them to us when she returns. Thanks for all your hard work. I'll
call Claudia at 12:00 your time. Hope all goes well in your efforts.
