O procuradores pediram por 225 anos de cadeia para 25 manifestantes

O processo judicial de Genova nao vai terminar amanha, mas eles estao
chegando ao um fim, e as pessoas parecem ter esquecido o que Genova
significou e como foi uma grande pare da historia que a gente participou
quando decidimos tomar as ruas durantes aqueles dias de julho de 2001.
Enquanto os casos judiciais contra os politiciais pela tortura cometida
em Bolzaneto e pelas batidas na escola Diaz estao caminhando bem devagar
(um devera acabar no comeco do ano e o outro durante o verao -italiano-
de 2008) e na direcao de conviccoes fracas e grandes limitacoes apos a
premeira setencao judicial, o caso contra os 25 manifestantes jah viu as
ultimas semanas dos discursos finais dos procuradores.

Nos seus discursos os procuradoras Anna Canepa e Andrea Canciani
atacaram diretamente a manifestacao em Genova, pedindo por 225 anos de
cadeia para as 25 pesssoas acusadas de devastarem e roubarem a cidade no
dia 20 e 21 de julho. O discurso das procuradoras pediu as pessoas para
chamarem os acontecimentos em Genova pelo o que eles realmente foram:
devastacao, roubo, incedios. Eles tambem falaram que durante o momento
em que os massacres e os abusos cometidos pelos policiais aconteceram,
deveriam terem sido denunciados e processados mas eles mesmo nunca
abriram uma investigacao sobre os fatos, e insistiram que esses casos
ficassem de fora do caso no tribunal sobre os 25 manifestantes. As
procuradores falaram inclussive que as pessoas decidiram resistir e que
esse fato deveria ser sancionado, jah que eles dipersaram e
eventualmente decidiram registrar queixa contra a violencia cometida
pelos politicias.

Nos seus discursos as procuradores tentaram explcar pro juiz que tod em s
aquel em s presentes em Genova sao igualmente responsaveis pelas acusacoes,
jah que 'responsabilidade moral eh muito mais crucial do que
responsabilidade fisica em relaco ao que aconteceu em Genova: se eu
inspiro que 20 pessoas joguem pedras eu deveria ser considerado mais
responsavel pela devastacao do que se eu tivesse jogado 5 pedras". Isso
traz os codigos criminais de volta pra a idade media, aonde voce nao
precisava fazer nada para ter que ser sentenciado. Eh por isso que
alguns dos acusados tiveram o pedido de 6 anos de prisao por apenas
terem sido reconhecidos nas cenas dos videos que mostram as revoltas.
(nao durante nenhuma atividade em particular ou em muitos dos casos
apenas colocando uma lata de lixo na rua para atrasar os policiais que
estavam vindo)

Mas essa nao eh a pior parte do discurso das procuradoras, jah que elas
estao reinterpretando Genova para provar a historia de forma clara com
apenas um lado da versao do que ocorreu: A policia agiu de forma correta
e as manifestacoes estavam abusando cada vez mais, mas a Verdade eh que
el em s deveriam ter ido para casa e deixado a Cupula acontecer. A
procuradora falou que a perseguicao na via Tolemaide contra a
menifestacao dos  Tute Bianche foi razoavelmente rapida e de nenhuma
forma violenta, entao nao era possivel intender porque @s manifestantes
reclamam constantemente por 'temer perder suas vidas'; elas falaram que
aqueles transportes com Carabineieri armados apenas perseguiram duas
vezes em velocidade maxima e que as barricadas foram feitas antes disso,
entao @s manifestantes nao deveriam 'ficar falando' que essa foi a razao
pela qual teve o ataque ao veiculo. Elas ate tentaram minimizar a morte
do Carlo Giuliani, dizendo que uma situacao bem pior poderia ter
acontecido se os Carabinieri na sua van 'prestes a pegar fogo' nao
tivessem resgatado a tempo os seus colegas.

A nossa historia esta sendo destruida por essas duas procuradores que
estao desesperadas para mostrar que 4 anos de processo foram uteis
(mesmo se for para justificar as suas mentiras seu mal uso de
declaracoes das testemunhas da defensa) e que alguem seja responsavel
pelo o que aconteceu em Genova. Elas soh querem 'aparecer' no
'julgamento que vai mudar muitas as formas de como fazer julgamentos na
Italia', as custas de 25 manifestantes como tod em s nos. Se os juizes
aceitarem o ponto de vista dos procuradores, e culpar essas 25 pessoas a
6-16 anos de prisao, cada um de nos podera ser a/o culpada/o. Pense
durante todos os insultos que voce gritou durante o g8 em genova, pense
em quantas pedras voce arremesou, pense na raiva que voce sentiu quando
voce e seus amigos estavam apanhando.

Nos concordamos em um ponto com a procuradora. Vamos chamar Genova 2001
pelo o que foi: foi revolta e foi historia e foram nos mesmos. E eh por
isso que eles estao com medo e quere evitar que qualquer pessoa tente
fazer isso novamente para tirar o poder de onde ele normalmente fica.

The prosecutors ask 225 years of jail for 25 protestors

Genoa court case are not ending tomorrow, but they are drawing to a 
close, an people seems to have forgotten what Genoa meant and how big 
part of history we have been when we decided to take the streets in 
those days of july 2001. While the court cases against police officiers 
for the tortures in Bolzaneto and for the raid in the Diaz school move 
slowly forward (one will be ending by the end of the year and the other 
around summer 2008) towards meak convictions and satute of limitations 
after the first court sentence, the court case against 25 protestors has 
seen this last weeks the prosecutors final speech.

In their speech the prosecutors Anna Canepa and Andrea Canciani 
frontally attacked the protest in Genoa, asking 225 years of jail for 
the 25 people accused of devastating and sacking the city on july 20th 
and 21st. The speech of the prosecutors asks people to call Genoa events 
for what they were: devastation, sacking, arson. They stated that at the 
same time the massacres and the abuses of police should be prosecuted 
but never did themselves open an investigation on the facts, and 
insisted that they should be kept out of the court case against 25 
protestors. The prosecutors actually said that people decided to resist 
and that this fact should be sanctioned, since they should have 
dispersed and eventually file a complain for the violence the police 
enacted.
In their speech the prosecutors tried to explain the judge that all of 
those who were present in Genoa are equally responsible of the 
allegations, since "moral responsability is even more crucial than 
material responsability for Genoa events: if I inspire 20 people to 
throw a stone I should be hold more responsible of devastation than if I 
threw five of them". This brings back criminal codes to the middle age, 
where you were not supposed to actually have done anything to be 
convicted. This is why some of the accused where asked to be convicted 
to 6 years only because they are seen around the scenes of the riots 
(not doing anything particular or in a lot of cases just putting some 
trash bin in the streets to slow down police charges).

But this is not the worst part of the prosecutors speech, since they 
have been reinterpreting Genoa to provide history with a clean and 
one-sided version of the events: Police acted correctly and protestors 
are oversizing the abuses, but the Truth is that they should have gone 
home and let the Summit be. The prosecutor have been stating that the 
charge in via Tolemaide against the Tute Bianche demo was fairly quick 
and not particularly violent, so it's not understandable how protestors 
would complain constantly of "fearing for their own life"; they have 
been saying that Carabinieri armored transport only charged at full 
speed twice and that the barricades were made before this, so protestors 
should not "fuss" about it being the reason for the vehicle attack. They 
even came to minimize Carlo Giuliani's death, saying that there could 
have been worse situation if the Carabinieri inside the 
soon-to-be-burned van were not rescued by their colleagues.

Our history is being raped by two prosecutors who desperately want to 
show that 4 years of enquiry were useful (even if to justify their lies 
they misuse only statements of the defense's witness) and that someone 
is responsible for what happened in Genoa. They want to show off in the 
"trial that will change many a ways to do court cases in Italy", at the 
expenses of 25 protestors like all of us. If the judges will acknoledge 
the point of view of the prosecutors, and convict 25 people to 6-16 
years of jail, each one of us could be the next culprit. Think of how 
many insults you have shouted during the g8 in genoa, think of how many 
stones you have thrown, think of how much rage you felt while you and 
your friends were beaten.

We agree only on one point with the prosecutor. Let's call Genoa 2001 
for what it was: it was a revolt and it was history and it was us. And 
that's why they are scared and why they want to avoid that anybody will 
try again to take away power from where it usually stands.
