Hola compas,

Sino espero
sus revisiones/aprobaciones/commentarios etc.

Hi everybody,

We saw the message from Alias the day it was published but we didn't
respond directly because we wanted to wait and see if other people here
knew Alias.

Since nobody reacted to his message we were wondering about the meaning of
that silence.

Just to clarify a few things:

We are very aware of the lack o "representation" our collective has and we
are very aware of the few people we are. As we said in our application
form we are willing to do a lot of things to make it bigger and to open it
the more we can. We are currently fixing the last technical problems we
had and doing working-group about the technical part.
After that we plan o using all the energy we are putting in the technical
part for now into the diffusion part. We already have, individually and as
a group, contacts with a lot of social organizations working on very
different subjects and with very different methods.

We have to recognize that we don't have any contact with the
street-sellers. It might be because of us and our social background etc.
but it also might be because they are not organized collectively as far as
we know.

Also, it's not our intention do discredit publicly Alias or anything like
that but the situation of our collective (and others) with him is a little
complex. We had to set things clear with him several times about his
behavior both in the meetings and on the list.
He was constantly coming to the meetings with a machete under his shirt
and a tear-gas can saying he was under surveillance from spies of the FBI
and the Mossad.
He used the Indymedia Costa Rica mailing list to send messages denouncing
people of stealing children and immigrants.
One of the main problem in fact is his very poor level of English and
Spanish that makes his mails and interventions incomprehensible.

Here you can find a few examples of the kind of messages he would send:

Here is the answer we made him about his personal website where he was
making pubic accusation with names, direction, license plates etc. (which
goes against Indymedia principles). He had called his personal website
“Indymedia Costa Rica” without any discussion with the collective and
before the fundamental documents were approved.

Here is the answer I made him at that time:

In the end, in June 2010 we had to ask him not to participate anymore to
the collective nor the list after he made accusations without any proofs
about a feminist organization. Since I have worked with this same
organization 8 mouths I had a few elements to say he was or lying
willingly or completely paranoid. In both case he was only creating
problems, negative environment in the meetings and slowing the process.
Here is the original mail from Alias:

Here is my answer to him (which is not the wisest, I admit):
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/cmi-cr/2010-August/0801-df.html

I hope this clarify the situation.

About the concerns raised by Alias, We think that the Application Form
explains our positions about them but if you need any information we will
answer the better we can with pleasure.

Hopping to continue in the process.

All the best,

Toast for IMC COSTA RICA
