Hello all,
This is Al at Arkansas IMC. I hope all is well with you.
Over the past three or four days we have had periodic crashes of our website. Sometimes it has gone down for no apparent reason and sometimes we wonder if it could be due to something that we are doing. Would it be possible for you to look into this? The site seems to go down at the darndest times. Below, I am including the text of an e-mail which was posted by a member of our editorial collective. Perhaps his questions will help you to determine what is wrong.
Thanks for all of your help!
Sincerely,
Al - For Arkansas IMC
For the third day in a row, the site crashed when I submitted an article or feature. It's beginning to seem like more than a coincidence, so I wanted to run a few questions by you.
Usually when I'm doing editorial work on the site, I keep at least two windows open- one in the particular area where I'm working- the other on the general site, to check that things like the razorwire updates are posting okay. Could keeping two or more site windows open while logged on as an editor or a user have anything to do with the crashes?
Another possibility- the running cost of the Iraqi war java script has been registering as a java script error in the razorwire adminstrative error since it was first put up there. Twice when I've logged on to the general site, the counter has been blank, again registering as a java script error, in these cases with a pop up error message. Though simply refreshing the screen has gotten the counter working again in both cases. Could this counter have anything to do with the crashes?
Finally, we are obviously getting a lot more readers right now, given the number and variety of comments that have been appearing on the stories. Could the increased traffic simply be overloading the server?
Thanks,
David
