Yes it is a windows box, as are all in the Hamilton Collective

Datafreeway is not that strange a thing, it's a freeware GUI system 
built on the Putty codebase. (but yes it is windows ware, sorry)

Took your advice, downloaded Filezilla. Restarted the download (which 
had been zapped by deskaheh after 5 hours / 50 megabytes.  :-{

Filezilla is now reporting a dl speed of 10 KB/sec for a dl time 
estimate of 35 hours....

Ah, while I have been writing this deskaheh terminated again, after 
about 10 minutes. It now says 45 hours.... We are obviously in the realm 
of fantasy here....
