[Deskaheh-sysadmin] Bad file size on Big Muddy sql dump file, backup problem ?

Hi,

Righto, the problem has been caused by the DMA/disk problems Deskaheh is
having. This may be caused by a recent update [looks like Ski is
updating the box right now], or it could be a hardware failure.

If the database is as mangled as the nzdada one, then there is no hope
for it. Good news though, there is a usuable backup that is only a
couple of days old. I'll download these just in case.

I can turn DMA off, but this will require a reboot to take effect - I'm
a little worried that the server won't come back up. Does anyone have
physical access to the computer [and better yet, can get it up if it's
sick?]. I'm not sure if that will fix the problem. I'm also not
sure if rebooting in the middle of a system update is a very wise thing
to do .. [that thing has been compiling for days ..]

I'm leaving the country in a few days, so I _really_ don't have time for
this. We need to do something quickly though, before we lose Hamilton
too. Can anyone help out? I only really have today, and perhaps a few
hours over the next two days.

Ski, are you still rsyncing the dada sites?
