[Deskaheh-sysadmin] file mirroring broken

Hi,

I'm having trouble with 0.98.2 dada installations on deskaheh.nysindy.org
and file mirroring. Looking through the log, dada can happily open an
ftp connection, create a directory, cd into it and delete a [dummy]
dadaimctest.gif, but it can't upload the real dadaimctest.gif. 

Has anyone come across this before? Permissions seem to be fine. It'd be
super cool if someone could spare some time to give me a hand on this,
as we are having real problems with excessive data on our link.
